Lake Eufaula Fishing Report – February 2007

GON Staff | January 30, 2007

Eufaula: Level: Down 1.7 feet below full. Temp: 51-54 degrees. Clarity: Stained.

Bass: Fair. There has been decent crankbait bite, but it’s weather-dependent this time of year. Crank the main-lake, primary points 10 to 14 feet deep. Watch for several warm days in a row this month, and you can take advantage of some excellent bass fishing on Eufaula. Use a Rat-L-Trap on the flats at the mouths of cuts and pockets. If the warming trend is extended, try a floating worm, spinnerbait or shallow-running crankbait fished around shallow cover inside the cuts and pockets.

Hybrids: Fair. In the next few weeks the hybrids will start heading up the river, and the good fishing is usually above River Bend. Try shrimp or cutbait fished on Carolina-rigs. Concentrate on creek bends and at the mouths of small feeder creeks.
