Lake Eufaula Fishing Report December 2014

GON Staff | November 25, 2014

Eufaula: Level: 3.4 feet below 190 full pool. Temp: Mid 50s. Clarity: Stained.

Bass:
Tournament angler Les Bratcher reports, “The fall bite has picked up at Eufaula. Anglers are catching bass offshore on the ledges as well as shallow in the hydrilla. It took 40 pounds for a two-day total to win the Eufaula Bass Trail classic this last weekend. Anglers are catching bass on a variety of baits. Deep crankbaits, Alabama-rigs and jigs are catching offshore bass. Spooks, ChatterBaits, jerkbaits and punching are producing while fishing inshore on hydrilla lines. The weather will determine how the bite goes the next few weeks here at Eufaula.” Guide Sam Williams reports, “The cold weather and winds have made fishing tougher and uncomfortable. Bass are seeking warm cover. Down south, the hydrilla is holding bass. Up north, around wood and any vegetation is holding fish. The bait is plentiful, so slow presentation is even more important. Jigs with chunk trailers are working. Senkos are also a good bet.”

Catfish:
Sam reports, “Catfish are still doing well on jugs in the creeks. Cut bait is the trick.”

Crappie:
Sam reports, “Crappie are doing well around cover. Jigs are good, and jigs tipped with minnows are also a good choice. The ones being caught now are really nice. Many reports of slabs are coming in.”
