Lake Eufaula Fishing Report December 2013

GON Staff | November 26, 2013

Eufaula: Level: 2.2 feet above full pool. Temp: Low 60s. Clarity: Clear to slightly stained.

Bass: Guide Sam Williams reports, “With cooler weather and hunting season here, the lake is not as crowded—good news for the serious fishermen. The tournaments have been bringing in some nice sacks over the past few weekends. Last Sunday there were several 20-lb.-plus bags weighed in. The cooler water means a slower presentation, and jigs are a very good choice. Deeper structure is holding good fish. The shallow cover is still holding bait and will still produce a bite. Soft plastics worked slowly will work. The bait is still working on top, and a hard bait worked through them draw some strikes. A lipless crank under the schools of bait will get a bigger fish.”

Crappie: “The night fishermen are enjoying the cooler weather for the crappie,” Sam said. “Under the causeways, it is lit up like a stadium at night. The crappie are good sized this year.”

Catfish: “The windy weather is making jugging for catfish a little tough. If you get back in the creeks, it is easier to keep the jugs gathered up. Some nice ones are being caught on cut bait,” Sam said.
