Lake Eufaula Fishing Report August 2015

GON Staff | July 30, 2015

Eufaula: Level: 2.0 feet below 190 full pool. Temp: 88-90 degrees. Clarity: Lightly stained.

Bass: Guide Sam Williams reports, “Bass are feeding best early and late. The baitfish are working cover early, and the shallow bite is on at first light and over by mid morning. The bass fishing picks up again near sunset, and they bite well on into the evening. The night tournaments have been doing well with the bigger bites coming after dark. The deeper bass are on the cover and trashpiles on the main ledges. With this heat, it is time to be back home by 10 a.m., and then go back in the late afternoon. The late-day storms are a problem, and the lightning is very dangerous. Keep a close eye on the weather, drink plenty of water, and have sunscreen with you.”

Crappie:
Good. “The crappie are in the brushpiles and are doing good in the mornings on jigs or minnows until about 9 a.m. Concentrate on fishing the brushpiles in 18 to 20 feet of water, and fish your minnows or jigs down 8 to 12 feet deep,” Sam said.
