Lake Eufaula Fishing Report April 2015

GON Staff | March 25, 2015

Eufaula: Level: Full pool. Temp: Upper 50s to low 60s. Clarity: Stained to muddy.

Bass:
Good. Many bass moved into the pockets during the quick warm-up. Run spinnerbaits beginning at the mouths of pockets and working your way back in. If you spot movement in the water around shallow structure, fish with a Texas-rigged creature bait or a jig. Guide Sam Williams reports, “The cold weather seems to be gone for this season. Rainy weather will keep the river dirty, but the warming water will get the bass more active. Bass are beginning to move up near old pad fields and cover near shorelines. Buzzbaits, ChatterBaits and any noisy lures are getting bit. Rattle inserts in soft plastics are also working. The deeper bass are still hitting slow-moving lures near structure and trashpiles. Come fish our June tournament, and support the children and their families while they are being treated at Children’s Hospital at UAB in Birmingham.”

Crappie:
Sam reports, “Crappie are transitioning slowly. Some nice ones are being taken on jigs trolled in 10 to 20 feet. As the water clears up and warms, they will move up to the ledge tops. The next week should prove to make for some great crappie fishing. If they get stubborn, tip your jigs with minnows.”
