Lake Chatuge Fishing Reports – November 2020
GON Staff | October 29, 2020
Chatuge: Level: 4.5 feet below full pool. Temp: 67-68 degrees. Clarity: Clear.
Bass: Guide Eric Welch reports, “October fishing has been up and down. We had a lot of rain from the two hurricanes, which brought the lake up and TVA pulled it back down fast, trying to get the lake to winter pool. This happened twice in a three-week span. Then we had our first cold snap of the season that dropped the water temps down. There have been some fish jumping around. If you’re looking to just throw topwater, my baits of choice are a Berkley Cane Walker, an IMA Skimmer and a Strike King Sexy Dawg. There are some bass shallow, but most of the big spotted bass we’ve been catching have been in 25 feet. The baits of choice have been a drop shot with a 4.5-inch Roboworm, a shaky head, a Texas rig and a Z-man Ned rig. With the lake down, most of your laydowns are about out of the water, so target the man-made brushpiles off points and ditches. The herring the bass are targeting are small, so I’ve been catching fish on a 1/8-oz. swimbait head with a 2.5-inch Strike King Rage Swimmer and a Fish Head Spin with a 3.25-inch Strike King Rage Swimmer. Good luck.”
