Lake Chatuge Fishing Report – April 2020

GON Staff | March 27, 2020

Chatuge: Level: 4.5 feet low. Temp: 52-54 degrees. Clarity: Stained.

Bass: Guide Eric Welch reports, “TVA has pulled the lake down again due to all the rain we’ve been getting. The bass have started moving up around their spawning areas on flats, pebble gravel banks and long points. The baits I use targeting these areas are a Z-Man TRD worm, a tube and a 3/8-oz. jig in green pumpkin. You should start seeing some largemouth bass move in and around pockets. I will try throwing a 3/8-oz. spinnerbait, a swimbait and a Z-Man ChatterBait Jack Hammer. You can still catch some fish out deep off humps and points on a shaky head with a Strike King 6.5-inch finesse worm in green pumpkin and a drop shot with a 4.5-inch Roboworm in the red-crawler color. Once these fish move up, try a Strike King 1.5 squarebill crankbait in rayburn red and chartreuse/black.”
