Lake Burton Fishing Report – September 2024

GON Staff | August 28, 2024

Burton: Level:  2.2 feet below 1866.66. Temp: 79 degrees. Clarity: Slight stain.

Bass: Guide Wes Carlton, with Georgia Lake Fishing guide service, reports, “The bass bite has been tough the last couple of days. Most of the fish we have caught have been mid-lake chasing schools of herring around. Jackall 110 chrome jerkbaits have been working best for these fish. We have been targeting 18 to 22 feet of water. The largemouth bite has been decent in and around docks. Try throwing the new Frog Factory Ribbit Frog (stealth disco). Try working these a little slower than normal. Don’t be surprised if you catch a chain pickerel or two. They seem to be everywhere in the lake this year. The bass bite should continue to get better as we head into late September. Look for the fish to get shallower chasing herring.”

Trout: Guide Wes Carlton, with Georgia Lake Fishing guide service, reports, “The trout bite has been a little slow lately. Most of the fish we have caught have been in the backs of the creeks. We have had some success throwing a Little Cleo. The trout bite should pick up as we near later September and the water starts cooling down. Most of the bigger fish are deep right now.”
