Lake Burton Fishing Report – May 2008

GON Staff | April 29, 2008

Burton: Level: Full pool. Temp: Mid 60s. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Excellent with several days of 30-plus spotted bass, a few in the 5-lb. range and one 6.4 pounds, said Burton guide Wes Carlton. Large swimbaits have been working well (Strike King Shadalicious). Try throwing a Spot Sticker, too. The next couple of weeks should be great for bedding fish — try Senkos or finesse worms.

Hybrids: The linesides have been on fire this month, said Wes. “They are eating the new herring fry, so try using small spoons. We have caught several fish in the 10-lb. range and one around 11 pounds.”

Brown Trout: Good. “Most of the fish we are catching are in the 2- to 3-lb. range using large bass minnows and Lucky Craft Pointers,” Wes said. “Two 8-lb. fish were caught this week near the main river channel.”
