Lake Burton Fishing Report – March 2010

GON Staff | February 23, 2010

Burton: Level: 5.2 feet below full pool. Temp: Low 40s. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Dead slow. Wes Carlton is putting off his trips right now because the action is so slow. He said it’s looking good for March, though. With warming water temperatures, he’ll start drop shotting for spots in brushpiles on the main-lake points and pockets in 16 to 25 feet of water. He likes to fish a Roboworm on his drop-shot rig. Also, a jerkbait like a Pointer 78 should start to do some good on points with clay banks.

Trout: Decent. Wes said the best bite has been mid morning. Try throwing Rooster Tails and Mepps spinners in the mouths of main-lake creeks and pockets.
