Lake Burton Fishing Report – July 2024

GON Staff | June 26, 2024

Burton: Level: 1.8 feet below 1866.66. Temp: 81 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass: Guide Wes Carlton, with Georgia Lake Fishing guide service, reports, “The bass bite has been really good lately. There has not been as many big fish, but we’ve seen good numbers. The largemouth are still biting frogs well in the morning in and around docks. The Zoom Horny Toad seems to be working best. The spotted bass bite has been decent midway back in the creeks near the herring schools. The Berkley Magic Swimmer (silver) has been producing some nice fish in the 3- to 4-lb. range. Look for this bite to pick up in the next few weeks. Most of these fish are chasing herring schools up and down the channels of the creeks.”

Brown Trout: Guide Wes Carlton, with Georgia Lake Fishing guide service, reports, “The trout bite has been slow the last couple of days. The bite should continue to get better as we head into July. July is a good month for trolling Shad Raps (SR5 and SR7) in bright colors at 3 mph. The best bite is early in the morning and late in the evening.”
