Lake Burton Fishing Report – January 2024
GON Staff | December 28, 2023
Burton: Level: 9.3 feet 1866.66. Temp: 50 degrees. Clarity: Clear.
Bass: Guide Wes Carlton with Georgia Lake Fishing guide service reports, “The spotted bass have started their descent deep. Try using a spoon (Hopkins, etc.) or a deep-diving crankbait (Rapala X-Rap). The spoons are working good early in the mornings or on cloudy days. The crankbaits have been producing midday to early evening. This bite should continue to get better.”
Trout: Guide Wes Carlton with Georgia Lake Fishing guide service reports, “The brown trout have been biting good this month and should continue to for the next month or so. We have been catching five to 10 trout per trip with an occasional bigger fish. The trolling bite has proven best. We have been trolling small Rapala CountDown crankbaits.”
Walleye: Guide Wes Carlton with Georgia Lake Fishing guide service reports, “The walleye bite has been a little slow the last few days but should be picking up anytime now. Try slow trolling using a blueback herring with a weight and a 6-foot fluorocarbon leader in 25 to 30 feet of water on main-lake points.”
