Lake Burton Fishing Report – February 2009

GON Staff | January 27, 2009

Burton: Level: Full pool. Temp: Mid 40s. Clarity: Clear.

Bass:
Very good. Anthony Rabern reports: “February is traditionally big-bass month on Lake Burton. Pig ’n jig combinations in the fallen trees near the Hwy 76 bridge, in Wildcat Cove and on other main-channel locations are productive this time of year. Spotted bass will also move into the shallows to feed at sunset, and fishing with flukes on rocky banks is a good choice.”

Trout:
“Trout are piled up near the dam feeding on blueback herring,” Anthony said. “Trout could be at any depth, so pay close attention to your depthfinder. On sunny afternoons, look for fish right against the dam.”
