Lake Burton Fishing Report – April 2009

GON Staff | March 24, 2009

Burton: Level: Full pool. Temp: 46-49 degrees. Clarity: Clear on main lake; slight stain up the creeks and up the river.

Bass & Trout:
Antony Rabern reports, “The bite is definitely picking up in Lake Burton as the lake temps rebound from record lows this winter into the low 50s by the first of April. Numerous schools of blueback herring can be found in the vicinity of the dam and in the backs of the major cove arms. Bass and trout are busting into these schools in early morning and evening, so be prepared with anything that looks like a herring. Trout are still near the dam and in the vicinity of the major creek mouths. Slow trolling with shallow runners in herring patterns will be the ticket in April. After heavy rains, fishing in the creek mouths can be really terrific!”
