Lake Blackshear Fishing Report November 2014

GON Staff | October 29, 2014

Blackshear: Level: Full pool. Temp: 69-71 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Crappie: Rusty Parker reports, “The crappie have been on fire here lately. I have been fortunate enough to limit out four or five times in the past three weeks. A couple weeks ago, they were being caught mostly in shallower water, but recently they have moved back into deeper channel ledges. On the Hwy 280 bridge, I have great luck fishing the west-side channel ledge tight-lining minnows and pitching R.A.G. Fly jigs. For me, the best colors with the jigs have been chartreuse/pink/chartreuse or a black/chartreuse/black. Other locations are at the mouth of Collins Branch and the channel ledge north of Cedar Creek. For the past week, I have found most of the crappie hanging around 15 to 18 feet deep in 30 feet of water. Remember that the drawdown starts on Nov. 1, and they raise it back up Dec. 15. After it is drawn down 3 1/2 feet, the big slabs will be on fire.”
