Crappie:
Rusty Parker reports, “The crappie have really picked up in the last couple of weeks. The week before last I fished on the tops of structure in 30 feet of water. I caught a lot of crappie and was able to keep around 17 really nice slabs. I was tight-lining minnows but caught the bigger ones using R.A.G. Fly Jigs. I also was pitching the wooden pylons of the railroad trestle just south of Hwy 280. Starting at the channel and working my way back east produced the best results. The chartreuse/pink/chartreuse and chartreuse/pearl/chartreuse did the best. I was using mainly the 1/24-oz. jigs. Also the Hwy 280 bridge is producing a lot of crappie. The west channel ledge is best. With the cold weather finally getting here, I feel the crappie will be biting better and better, especially on the deep-water channel ledges.”
