Lake Blackshear Fishing Report – January 2020

GON Staff | December 31, 2019

Blackshear: Level: Full pool. Temp: 55 degrees. Clarity: Varied between clear and muddy depending on rain.

Various Species: Brad McDaniel at Flint River Outdoors reports, “All varieties—largemouth, striped and hybrid—are being found with the shad. Find the shad and you find them. So, obviously a bait that closely imitates the shad is the way to go. The crappie bite has been excellent on the main lake and also way up the lake. They are mainly being found related to the river channel and being caught on minnows, Lite Wire Heads with Big Tex jigs and Sugar Bug jigs in a variety of colors. In general, target water depths of about 25 feet. Good electronics are a big help. Catfish continue to be caught in good numbers using the angler’s choice of a wide range of live bait.”
