Lake Blackshear Fishing Report January 2014

GON Staff | December 30, 2013

Blackshear: Level: Full pool. Temp: 52-55 degrees. Clarity: Stained. Crappie: Rusty Parker reports, “It seems like the crappie are picking up a bit here on Lake Blackshear lately. Got a report from a friend who went this past Monday, and he and his partner caught their limit in no time at all. They were pushing minnows in 30 feet of water with the crappie suspended at 20 to 25 feet. I went fishing on Dec. 19 for a bit, but I didn’t do well at all. I’m going to try it again next week, adn the technique will be pushing minnows and pitching R.A.G. Fly jigs around the Hwy 280 bridge. I would suggest trying the east side of the island that is just south of Spring Creek. I marked a ton of fish there and at the Hwy 280 bridge. Also seems like a lot of good quality crappie are being caught just south of Collins Branch in deep water.”
