Lake Blackshear Fishing Report – February 2020

GON Staff | January 30, 2020

Blackshear: Level: Full pool. Temp: 55 degrees. Clarity: Has varied between clear and muddy depending on rain

Various Species: Brad McDaniel at Flint River Outdoors reports, “The crappie bite has been very difficult with all the rain that has fallen north of us. With normal February weather, the bite should be on fire with some crappie already looking to move shallow thinking about spawning. Minnows, Litewire and Big Tex jigs and Sugar Bugs are the way to go. As with the crappie, depending on the weather, bass will be in prespawn and spawn mode looking to move shallow. Catfish continue to be caught in good numbers using a wide range of live bait. The bream bite is still slow, but by the time you read this, it should be improving. It depends on the weather. Worms or crickets will be your best bet.”
