Lake Allatoona Fishing Report – March 3, 2024

Ronnie Garrison | March 4, 2024

I fished Lake Allatoona on Sunday, March 3 with Dane Huner for an upcoming feature article that will appear in GON. The lake level was 836.77, which was 3.23 feet below full pool. Most of the lake had a light stain, and the surface temperature started at 49 degrees that morning and warmed to 52 degrees later in the day.

Dane caught some small keeper spots and largemouth—and several stripers—by casting to fish he was seeing on Livescope. He concentrated on creek channel bends and fishing back in the ditches. There was still a lot of bait back in the ditches all the way back to about 20 feet deep and spotted bass were feeding on them. Dane caught most of his fish of all species on a Kitech 2.8 swimbait on a 1/4-oz. jig head.  The fish were stacked up in several ditches and channel swings but were hard to get to hit.

The Allatoona Team Trail Sunday Morning Series tournament was won with 16.25 pounds and it took 12.53 pounds to cash. Dane said he heard that the winners were fishing a Little Spotty jig in brush early in the morning.
