Georgia Saltwater Fishing Report – September 2010

GON Staff | August 25, 2010

Saltwater: Inshore: Capt. Greg Hildreth reports from the Golden Isles area that the inshore fishing is still going very well. “The trout have been plentiful but have been on the short side of the minimum length limit. There have also been tons of small redfish as well, and these fish should be of legal size by the end of next month, and it should be a heck of a fall bite,” Greg said. “The fish I have been catching have been in the sound and river areas in 3 to 5 feet of water. I have been using a Paradise Popper float with about a 2 1/2-foot leader and a Berkley Gulp shrimp for bait.”

Nearshore: On the southern Georgia coast, Capt. Greg Hildreth reports, “The nearshore fishing has been fantastic with tarpon and big black-tip sharks being the main attractions. The tarpon have been in St. Andrews Sound very thick this summer and should be around until the first northeast blow. The big bull redfish will be on the bars off the beaches anytime now and should be very good by the middle of September.”
