Georgia Saltwater Fishing Report – October 2010

GON Staff | September 29, 2010

Saltwater: Inshore: Good. Capt. David Newlin reports, “The trout are biting. All over the St. Catherines and Ossabaw sounds, all of the drops seem to be holding some fish. There are a lot of small fish with some good fish mixed in. There’s a whole lot of action. I have caught redfish from 10 inches to 40 inches over the last few weeks. One day last week we caught about 40 fish in one hour. Live shrimp is the bait to use. In October, when the water cools down some, the plastic baits will start working. The water temp on Sept. 20 was a hot 84 degrees. Shrimp are plentiful everywhere. Catch or buy plenty. I have fished off several hundred in a few hours lately. Tarpon and sharks are still here in good numbers. October should be really good for trout and redfish.”
