Georgia Saltwater Fishing Report – November 2009

GON Staff | October 27, 2009

Saltwater: Inshore: Decent. Capt. Bob Barnette reports, “As we move into the final days of October, the inshore saltwater action has been quite spotty. With the above-average tides causing the water to become muddy, it is hard to find clear water. Keeping that in mind, when you do find clear water, the bite has been good. We can look forward to lower tides the first of November. The water temperature is falling, and the trout have started to move up the sounds and into the creeks. With the water at 68 degrees, and bait shrimp plentiful, you should have no trouble having a good catch. Use live shrimp in the mouths of the deeper creeks on a float rig. As the water cools into the low 60s and bait shrimp get harder to get, try mud minnows with the same rig. This is also the time of year when we start using artificial bait such as Gulp and other plastic-type baits. Remember that the bull reds should be in the surf. Cut mullet on a large slip-sinker rig is a good way to go.”
