Georgia Saltwater Fishing Report – July 9, 2023
Capt. David Newlin | July 9, 2023
Inshore: Capt. David Newlin reports, “The Fourth of July week has been a busy week of boats on the water and fish catching. Some really nice catches of flounder have happened this week. Big flounder have been biting really good for me on the outgoing tide. Live shrimp fished just off the bottom under a cork has been working. The redfish bite in the mornings has been good. Friday morning we hit a school of big ones, and I wore a couple people out. We caught 15 from 20 to 32 inches in about an hour. Trout seem to be out in the sounds and on open-water drops. The bite has been better in the mornings. Sharks are really thick around the beaches. I fished for sharks on Thursday and hooked a shark every 10 minutes all day. Fresh pogies will get all the bites you want. Several tarpon have been caught. More tarpon should show up any day now. Water temps are in the upper 80s.”
