Georgia Saltwater Fishing Report – December 2010

Saltwater: Inshore: Very good. Capt. Greg Hildreth reports, “The nearshore fishing for the bull reds is about over; most of them have moved out to the reefs and wrecks offshore. They can still be caught out there but aren’t near as fun to catch in the deep water. The inshore fishing has been very good! I had two guys out Monday, and we had about 18 keeper-size trout on lures. We were using 7-foot All Star spinning rods with the new Penn 2000 Conquer reels with 12-lb. Fireline braid. The lures were 1/8-oz. jig heads with Berkley Gulp shrimp in the new penny color. The fish are starting to move into the creeks as the water temp starts to fall. The sight casting for the tailing redfish has also been good, with nice-size fish being taken on fly as well as Gulp baits. The inshore fishing should get very good going into the holiday season.”
