Clarks Hill Fishing Report – September 2010

GON Staff | August 25, 2010

Clarks Hill: Level: 3.7 feet below full pool. Temp: 87 degrees. Clarity: Clear.

Bass:
Dale Gibbs reports, “The largemouths are suspended on the lower end of the lake and chasing threadfin shad. Bass can be caught on smaller topwaters like a Spook Jr, Sammy and Chug Bug fished early and late. Most of this action is taking place in the main rivers and creek mouths. The hump-fishing pattern still works, but be ready to be teased by frequent small schooling bass. September may bring some bigger school-fishing bites, so be ready. Try a buzzbait early for a quality bite, and if all else fails, go to a 3/16-oz. shaky-head worm off the deeper sides of humps in 20 to 30 feet of water. Always use flourocarbon in clear water. Remember, stay close to the hydrilla on the lower end.”
