GON Hunt Advisor Richie Green had a great opening day of dove season with Duck Dugan on his farm in Jeffersonville. “Five of us had our limit by 6 p.m. or earlier. Cole Dugan and Jackson Click (kids pictured) helped gather birds,” Richie said. “Please take the kids with you. There is no better place to be than the fields and woods, I promise.”

Heather Beers was hunting in Tift County last December when she got her buck.

Madison County produced this buck last season for Justin Melanson. The 12-point buck had an 18 1/2-inch spread.

Mark Williams, of Blackshear, with a double catch at Little Ocmulgee State Park. He caught the double on a old rare lure, a Whopper Stopper Hellcat. Mark was fishing with his buddy, the late Glen Solomon, on June 26.

Rebekah Keller, of Williamson, killed her first turkey in Talbot County last season on Good Friday, March 30. The bird had an 11 1/8-inch beard and 1 1/2-inch spurs.

Josh Smallwood was hunting in Carroll County opening weekend with his crossbow when the does he was watching suddenly spooked, and two coyotes came in. “One winded me, and they ran,” Josh said. “I used my finger pressed onto my lips to make a distressed rabbit sound. And this one came running back to 40 yards. This male dropped in his tracks!”
