Leon Harris came by the GON office to see a measuring tape put on the Greene County 15-pointer he killed during the 2019 season. The tally was 146 6/8 total inches on the main-frame 5×6 that also had four abnormals and 5-inch bases.
It’s hard to tell from the picture, but this Washington County buck’s right antler has long points coming up from the base that are like extra beams. Marc Hayes, of Marietta, shot the buck the afternoon of Oct. 18 as it was grunting every step. Marc heard deer running and saw an 8-pointer just before shooting this buck, and he saw another 8-pointer five minutes later.
Rob Moubray, of Bethlehem, caught this 38.6-lb. flathead under the train trestle at Lake Oconee on chicken liver dipped in garlic. “It lacked 2 inches being 4 foot long, and it was 28 inches round,” Rob said. “Caught it on 17-lb. test, it took 28 minutes to land it.”
Grant Ellis, a senior at Haralson County High, made his first bow-kill one to remember—a big Heard County buck.
Sam Sullivan shot this Emanuel County gobbler on opening day last season after watching three stubborn toms for an hour before this one sprinted in.
