Lake Jackson Fishing Report – May 2021

GON Staff | April 29, 2021

Jackson: Level: Full pool. Temp: Mid 60s to low 70s. Clarity: Stained to clear.

Bass: Tournament angler Brian Lee reports, “May is a month that can dictate the remainder of the summer on Jackson for any fisherman. The spawn is winding down as the last wave of females take to the shallows as others are retreating back to their favorite holes to feed up. Any bait you decide to throw will catch bass this month on Jackson, but location is key. Bass will be feeding up because the spawn has taken a lot out of them. Fry guarders will still be seen throughout this month. These bass are very quick to eat anything that comes anywhere close to these pods of fry. There will be bass in all stages of the spawn but mostly in the winding-down stages as summer hideouts become occupied for many bass. Depths of 1 to around 15 feet should be the ideal depth, but don’t forget to keep those deeper fish in mind because they may be there. Best of luck this month and tight lines.”
