Coyote Cull: May 2021 Entries

Round 1 of the 2021 GON Coyote Cull is off and rolling as hunters and trappers step up to the plate to kill song dogs in an effort to save fawns and turkey poults.

Listed below are all the entries of those who have found success and taken a photo with their May 2021 issue of GON. We’ll update this list throughout the contest. Please allow at least 24 hours for your entry to be processed and posted online if you enter through the mail or at [email protected].

BANKS COUNTY

Evan Harris with some Banks County coyotes.

 

BARROW COUNTY

Charlie Chase, of Winder, with a black coyote from Barrow County. Charlie said, “I hunt with thermal and this yote responded to baby cottontail in distress.”

 

BARTOW COUNTY

Mike Warrak, of White, said, “The mailman delivered my May 2021 copy of GON, so I figured I would waste no time taking care of business.  Attached is my photo for May’s entry.  Stand by for June and July!”

Clay Gaines with a Bartow County coyote killed on May 7.

Jason Davis with Team Kenzies Optics took this coyote in a corn field in Bartow County on May 7.

Michael Tingle Jr., of Ringgold, killed this coyote in Bartow County.

 

BEN HILL COUNTY

This trap sat for 29 days before Malachi Boney, of Fitzgerald, caught the Ben Hill County coyote. Malachi had video of him going by the set several days, and he almost gave up on catching him. He finally caught him on a flat set with a dab of red fox gland lure.

 

BROOKS COUNTY

Lane Brannen, of Quitman, with a Brooks County coyote.

Joe Brannen, of Quitman, with a Brooks County coyote.

 

CATOOSA COUNTY

Zach Ingle with a Catoosa County male yote that weighed 34.1 pounds.

David Coffee, of Ringgold, with a Catoosa County coyote shot on May 14.

 

CHATTAHOOCHEE COUNTY

Mark Henson, of Ellaville, took out this Chattahoochee County fawn killer.

Jim Wiehe, of Cusseta, with a Chattahoochee County coyote.

Harry Ligon, of Cusseta, with a Chattahoochee County coyote.

 

CHEROKEE COUNTY

Brian Dean, of Canton, with a Cherokee County coyote.

 

COLQUITT COUNTY

Gavin Ragland with his Colquitt County coyote.

Ryan Moore, of Omega, doubled up on these two black coyotes in Colquitt County on May 24.

 

COLUMBIA COUNTY

Robert Schaffer, of Evans, with a Columbia County coyote.

Al Harris, of Donalsonville, with an Early County coyote.

Tyler Wade, of Bowman, with an Elbert County coyote.

Robbie Armstrong, of Rome, with a coyote selfie from Floyd County.

John Norris, of Royston, with a Franklin County coyote he killed on May 7.

David Strickland, of Cairo, was hunting with Russell Childs when they killed this Grady County male coyote on the evening of May 3.

 

HABERSHAM COUNTY

Travis Harris, of Clarkesville, with a Habersham County coyote shot on May 2.

Gary Sutton, of Clarkesville, with a Haberhsham County coyote.

 

HALL COUNTY

Shane Martin and Zack Lathem each have a May entry after stacking up the yotes in Hall and Jackson counties on the night of May 16.

Tom Smith, of Oakwood, with a female coyote killed in Hall County on May 27.

Tracy Cagle, of Elberton, killed this coyote in Hall County.

 

HANCOCK COUNTY

Jeff Shafer, of Peachtree City, with a Hancock County female coyote trapped May 16.

Dal Dunagan, of Cumming, with a Hancock County coyote.

 

HARALSON COUNTY

Wayne Wood in Haralson County said, “I shot this coyote behind my house out the extra bedroom window on May 15. I feed them over the fence out back chopped-up chickens slung out in pasture. A small light is pointed in the pasture 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. I have a security camera pointed in the pasture with a monitor beside my easy chair. Sometimes one will come by before I go to bed. I get the dead chickens from a neighbor’s chicken house. So far I have killed 10  this year up to May 26, four this month, two in April, two in March and two in February.”

 

HEARD COUNTY

Josh Womack, of Roopville, caught this coyote on May 17 in Heard County next to a chicken house.

Mike Lego, of Hogansville, with a Heard County coyote.

 

JACKSON COUNTY

Randall Brown said he killed this coyote in his backyard in Jackson County.

Eric T. Wall, of Braselton, killed this coyote on the evening of May 25 while hunting with Charlie Chase and Wade Carter in Jackson County.

 

JASPER COUNTY

Tyson Wilkerson, of Monticello, with a coyote he killed in Jasper County.

 

JEFFERSON COUNTY

Coach J.B. Arnold, of Stapleton, with a Jefferson County coyote.

 

JENKINS COUNTY

Brian Lane, of Statesboro, with a Jenkins County coyote.

Perry Lane, of Millen, with a Jenkins County coyote.

 

JONES COUNTY

Mike Groves, of Haddock, with his Jones County coyote.

Kevin Kirby said this Jones County coyote came into a mouse call in less than 30 seconds.

Stephen Coxwell with a Laurens County coyote.

Louie DuPree, of Valdosta, with a Lowndes County coyote.

Will Blanchard, of Naylor, killed this coyote in Lowndes County.

Lee Stover, of Dahlonega, with a Lumpkin County coyote. Way to get the 2021 Coyote Cull started, Lee!

Brad Faglier, of Thomson, with a McDuffie County coyote killed on May 18.

 

MONROE COUNTY

Eleven-year-old Max Tate trapped this 45-lb. female coyote in Monroe County on May 7. Max put the coyote in a freezer until he could get his hands on the May issue of GON. Great job, Max!

 

MURRAY COUNTY

Glenn Earnest, of Crandall, with a Murray County coyote.

 

OCONEE COUNTY

Trey McRorie piled up this coyote in Oconee County.

Jason Roberts with an Oconee County coyote.

Christopher Butler, 10, of Bishop with an Oconee County coyote that was trapped.

 

OGLETHORPE COUNTY

Douglas Graham, of Athens, killed this coyote in Oglethorpe County on May 27.

 

PAULDING COUNTY

Cody Wills, of Dallas, with a coyote that was trapped in Paulding County.

Ashley Holland with a Paulding County coyote.

 

PIKE COUNTY

Craig Darsey with a Pike County coyote he trapped on May 20.

 

PULASKI COUNTY

Alex Hammond killed these Pulaski County coyotes on May 22.

 

PUTNAM COUNTY

Michael Engle, of Monticello, took this Putnam County coyote while turkey hunting.

Shannon Leach, of Conyers, with a Putnam County coyote.

 

STEPHENS COUNTY

Chris Lingerfelt with a Stephens County coyote killed May. 15.

 

STEWART COUNTY

Charlie Ligon, of Richland, caught this coyote with a Duke 550 Pro Series trap.

 

TREUTLEN COUNTY

Justin Johnson, of Adrian, killed this coyote in Treutlen County.

Matthew Ripperger, of Adrian, killed this coyote in Treutlen County.

TROUP COUNTY

Nate Moore was hunting with Justin Doughman in Troup County when they collected a pile of coyotes. Talk about making a difference on the fawns and poults!

Donald Keys, of Young Harris, killed this coyote in Union County.

 

WALTON COUNTY

Eddie Bannister, of Loganville, shot this Walton County coyote behind his house on May 28 with a 6.5 Creedmor.

 

WASHINGTON COUNTY

William Pettit, of Eatonton, with a Washington County coyote.

 

WARE COUNTY

Ron Rozier, of Waycross, with a Ware County coyote.

Nathan Baldree with a Ware County double. Nathan said, “I had this double fired up with the Jr Howler hand call from Shadow Creek Customs and got them to fully commit with some den distress.”

 

WHITFIELD COUNTY

Keith Swinford, of Cohutta, with a Whitfield County coyote.

Cline Souther, of Dalton, with a Whitfield County female coyote taken at 9:30 p.m. on May 6. She showed no signs of having pups.

Nathan Fennell with a Whitfield County coyote from May 13.

Jordan Dawson called in this White County coyote with the Foxpro using the “Lightning Jack” sound.

Bruce Shaffer, of Dallas, took this male coyote at his farm in Wilkinson County.
