Lake Jackson Fishing Report – May 2020

GON Staff | April 30, 2020

Jackson: Level: Full pool. Temp: Mid to upper 60s. Clarity: Stained to clear.

Bass: Tournament angler Brian Lee reports, “The spawn is winding down and the bass are staging and feeding up to make their way to deep water. Topwater and crankbaits are producing good numbers right now, especially since the lake hasn’t seen a lot of tournaments due to the pandemic. As the day warms up, Carolina rigs and shaky heads are catching bass on long, tapering points near deep water. The water temp in some areas is slightly warmer than others, which is pushing the Jackson bass deeper quicker than normal. Expect to have a fun, action-packed morning before the sun gets up high. Shady banks are holding bass shallow longer. Next month expect the fishing to be best early mornings and to slow down in the hotter parts of the day. Deeper brush and drop-offs will hold more fish.”
