Lake Jackson Fishing Report April 2014

Jackson: Level: 1.0 foot above full pool. Temp: Mid to high 50s. Clarity: Stained in the river, clear in the main lake.

Bass: Eric Perkins reports, “I’m fishing shallow wood from a foot of water out to about 5 feet. I’m flipping my 3/8-oz. Net Boy Baits flipping jig with a Zoom Pro Chunk and casting a white spinnerbait and ChatterBait. Colors vary from green pumpkin to black/blue, depending on water color. Really right now you can catch fish so many ways it’s unreal. I love running a jerkbait on the main lake, along with a Spro Aruku Shad in chartreuse shad and an Alabama Rig. You can load the boat with white bass, hybrids, stripers, spots and largemouth. When the water gets in the mid to high 60s, I’m looking for bedding fish. I usually just stay on the move fishing a Bang O Lure or a fluke until I locate one and then spin around and work the fish with a white tube or lizard.”
