Lake Jackson Fishing Report April 2013

GON Staff | March 27, 2013

Jackson: Level: Full pool. Temp: Upper 50s. Clarity: Light stain.

Bass:
Fair. Tournament angler Eric Perkins reports, “Fishing has been hit and miss with the weather. We’ve had some good trips, but the best is yet to come. I’ll be concentrating on the prespawn fish for a week or so and then focusing on spawning largemouth and spots in very skinny water. You can’t go wrong with the Bagley Bang O Lure on Jackson bedding fish. They can’t stand that thing when you snatch it over a bed and stop it. Both spots and largemouth will kill it. Depending on water color, I’ll look for bedding fish from the dam all the way up Tussahaw Creek and into the Alcovy arm. I look for creeks coming in short and long pockets. I like sandy pockets with a lot of cover, boat docks, stumps and anything they can get next to. I will also fish a Trick Worm or fluke pretty fast and try to make one show itself. If I don’t catch it when it flashes on my bait, then I’ll slow down with a Net Boy Baits white flipping jig or a white, 5-inch tube or a Beaver and work the fish over. This is the month I wait on all year. The topwater bite will explode this month. I always say around the 18th it’s going to be wide open.”
