Feeling patriotic, or maybe you’re ready to heat up the shotgun barrel getting after some pheasants? Best case, both of those are true, because there’s a special event coming to Henry County.
On Nov. 4-5, High Point Quail Shooting Preserve in Locust Grove is hosting a pheasant hunt for veterans who were wounded while serving their country.
The event was coordinated by Bob Paschal, a veteran who several years ago began hosting deer hunts for veterans through the Crawford County Lions Club.
This year, they’ve partnered with Bill Ward at High Point Quail Shooting Preserve for the pheasant hunt.
Guest-shooter spots on the hunt are available for $350, which includes a Friday-evening steak dinner, a clay-bird shoot and a meet-and-greet with the soldiers. On Saturday, guests will take part in a continental pheasant shoot alongside the wounded warriors. Pheasants will be released from a center tower with hunters stationed around the perimeter. After each round of birds, hunters will rotate stands. At the end of the hunt, birds will be divided equally among the hunters.
If you don’t want to hunt but still want to help, donations are being accepted. For info, contact Bill Ward at (770) 231-7921, or e-mail [email protected].
