Lake Jackson Fishing Report – September 2018

Jackson: Level: 0.5 feet above full pool. Temp: High 80s to low 90s. Clarity: Clear to slightly stained.

Bass: Tournament angler Keith Dawkins reports, “Look for early fish on topwater near deep-water laydowns and seawalls on the main lake. Use Pop-Rs and white 1/2-oz. buzzbaits until the sun comes up. Some of the best areas to start looking in the morning are near the confluence of the South and Alcovy rivers and seawalls from the main lake going up Tussahaw to the bridge. Once the sun gets out, I would concentrate on either boat docks near creek channels or long points and humps on the main lake. Flip or pitch docks with jigs or worms. You can also fish shaky-head finesse worms around these docks. For deep water, use your electronics to locate schools of bass around deep structure near the ends of deep points. I like to search with a Carolina-rigged Zoom Trick Worm in watermelon or with an Alabama Rig. If the bite is tough, try vertical fishing with a drop shot rigged with a Strike King Half Shell in sexy shad.”
