Lake Chatuge Fishing Report – May 2025
GON Staff | April 30, 2025
Chatuge: Level: 0.4 feet below 1925. Temp: 69-72 degrees. Clarity: Clear
Bass: Eric Welch, of Welch’s Guide Service, reports, “Fishing has been good. The spawn is pretty much over, so the fish are in postspawn and have been feeding heavily. I’ve been catching fish around rocky banks and pebble flats, throwing a drop shot, shaky head and wacky rig. Since the spawn is over, there are bass guarding fry around docks and brush. There are multiple lures you can throw in these areas. Try a Zoom Fluke or Trick Worm and paddletail swimbaits. You also have some of your first spawning fish that are starting to feed up and move out to their summer areas. There is some topwater action starting. I like throwing a Berkley Cane Walker and Lucky Craft Gunfish. There is always a good jig bite once these fish start moving back to brush after the spawn. Also, if you have a windy day, try throwing a spinnerbait and ChatterBait. Good luck.”
