Lake Chatuge Fishing Report – October 2024

GON Staff | September 25, 2024

Chatuge: Level: 4.2 feet below 1925. Temp: 78-80 degrees. Clarity: Clear

Bass: Guide Eric Welch, of Welch’s Guide Service, reports, “Fishing has been good. The lake level has been dropping along with the water temp. There have been fish breaking in the morning and throughout the day. I’m starting my morning out throwing a Berkley Cane Walker, Zoom Fluke and an Ima Stix. On cloudy days, I’m throwing a natural shad pattern. If it’s sunny, I’m throwing chrome. I will work these baits on flats, humps and over offshore brush. I will also work these baits over points and follow it up with a swimbait. With the fish starting to feed up for the winter, this month is a good month to throw glide baits and swimbaits. I will target offshore structures and brush on points with a drop shot with a 6.5-inch Roboworm and a shaky head. With the lake coming down, it’s always good to fish the laydowns with a fluke or a 3/8-oz. jig. If I get a day with a little wind, I will throw a 3/8-oz. War Eagle spinnerbait, along with a Strike King crankbait. Good luck.”
