The Truck-Buck contest is back for the 35th straight Georgia deer season with weekly winners and awesome prizes—and the Youth Big-Buck Contest is also back.

Thanks to Jonathan Megel (left) and John Megel Chevy, a Georgia deer hunter wins a new truck every year. Here is the 2022 Shoot-Out winner Wendell Duncan getting the keys to his truck.

Truck-Buck is back for the 35th straight year! The Truck-Buck sponsors have once again stepped up to provide Georgia deer hunters with the best, most unique—and most rewarding—deer contest ever.

Please don’t take this amazing contest for granted. Take a few minutes to thank the Truck-Buck sponsors. And when you do business, please do so with the folks who support us and Georgia hunting. Without these sponsors, there wouldn’t be a Truck-Buck contest.

It all starts with John Megel Chevy, who will award the 35th grand prize truck to the winner of this deer season’s Truck-Buck Shoot-Out. The second-best shot will earn a Fiminator G-3 from Ranew’s Outdoor Equipment.

In addition to qualifying for that grand-prize Shoot-Out, the best-scoring buck each week of deer season earns a super weekly prize package highlighted by the new Phase4 bow from Mathews, a Storm 110 deer rifle from Savage, or a CVA Optima muzzleloader. Weekly winners also win an HSS safety harness and a prize package of products from 4S Advanced Wildlife Solutions.

Four wildcard winners earn Shoot-Out spots and get a $250 gift card from Agri Supply, a Rugged Road 85 V2 cooler, 4S products, and an HSS safety harness. The wildcards are for the highest-scoring buck by a youth, lady or public-land hunter that doesn’t win a week. There is also a Runner-Up Wildcard for the highest-scoring buck that doesn’t win a week.

Entering the Truck-Buck contest is simple. First, be a GON subscriber, which means you have paid for an annual or two-year subscription to the magazine (the new monthly $2.99 subscription does make you eligible for Truck-Buck). When you kill a buck, take digital photos before you cape the buck. Then go to www.GON.com and fill out the online entry form and upload your pictures. There is also an entry form that can printed, filled out and mailed (use priority service to meet deadlines). Click here for the complete official rules for the contest.

Rule No. 1: You can’t kill a buck, then subscribe and try to enter. Also, if you are 23 and living with your parents, you need to buy your own subscription. Only dependent kids (claimed as dependent on parents’ taxes) can enter on a subscription. Grandparents, please buy a gift subscription for the grandkids!

The Youth Big-Buck Contest

The kids even have their own contest with weekly winners, prizes and their own Shoot-Out that is held at the Outdoor Blast.

The entry process is the same—simply enter Truck-Buck. All youth hunters 15 years old and younger are automatically entered in both Truck-Buck and the Youth Big-Buck Contest.

The winner of the Youth Big-Buck Contest Shoot-Out gets a $3,000 shopping spree at Adventure Outdoors, plus a weekend hunt with Woods-N-Water. The second-best shooter in the finals will receive a CVA Scout .243 break-action centerfire rifle from BPI Outdoors. The highest-scoring buck entered by a youth 15 and younger during each of the 17 weeks of Georgia’s deer season earns that youngster a spot in the Shoot-Out, plus weekly prizes. In the Youth Contest, 17 kids will win a 65 V2 cooler from Rugged Road Outdoors, and each weekly winner earns a LockedOn 360 Mobile Gun Vise, perfect for hunting from a shooting house.
