Hunt Story
I saw this buck 2 years ago, coming up the ridge he looked like he had field goal post for antlers. Hence the name "Goalie." With my release on my bowstring, I let him walk deeming him too young under our management plan. I said he needs 2 more years to see what he becomes. My husband walked him last year knowing he needed time and how much I wanted a chance at him the next year. This year he was put on the harvest list. He started showing up regularly on camera always after shoot light. I hung in there sitting evenings on the right wind. This night the wind was marginal but I wanted to try anyway. He came from his normal location and stood there behind the tree for 17 minutes as he was checking my wind. I had him in my scope the whole time begging him to take one more step forward. As I was losing light he stepped forward and I was able to harvest my largest GA buck to date and our #1 target list buck. Thanks to my husband Greg Samuel for working so hard and always putting me in best spots.
