Hunt Story

I arrived at the tower stand before daylight and got settled in. Saw two does feeding early. At about 8, I saw a 4-point chasing a doe and another smaller buck following. The chase came by several times. At one point I saw the 4-point and the smaller buck fighting with each other. I had seen a total of 11 deer with smaller bucks and does being all I saw. At about 9:45 I was looking to my front when a larger buck was walking the field edge to my right. I saw good width, so I grabbed my Sako 300WSM and then I saw good tine length. I clicked off the safety and when the buck turned toward the woods, I dropped him with a high shoulder shot of about 140 yards. I knew he was sure enough good because I could see his rack above the grass in the field. I gave God thanks when I saw just how big he was.
