Hunt Story
I went hunting with my dad for my very first deer after going with him since I was four years old. I was out of school all week for fall break and decided to go hunt a buck that we have seen a few times. After four long evening hunts, I finally shot my first deer. This buck would come in just before dark with some other bucks, but he would always be facing us and the few times he would turn broadside it wasn't long enough for me to feel comfortable with the shot or he wasn't facing the direction I wanted him to run to help make recovering him easier. A decent 6-point gave me several opportunities and I was starting to think about going for him instead, but dad told me to be patient and to keep hunting for the one that I had my eyes on, and I was already three hunts in for him. I'm glad I listened to him because the next hunt everything finally lined up just how we imagined it would and I shot my first deer. We waited a couple of hours before searching for him and found him about one hundred yards from where I shot him. We both learned a lot more during these hunts and I am very happy for a successful hunt and look forward to many more.
