Hunt Story
We have been getting pictures of this buck for 3 years at the lease I hunt. He managed to outsmart us for 2 years. This year we stepped it up some and hunted this buck hard. Saw him running full speed chasing a doe during the rut with no hope for a shot. One afternoon while hunting 1 of my spots overlooking a trail, I saw a small buck come out but instead of getting on the trail, he crossed it and walked off down a hillside out of view. When I finished hunting I walked to the top of the hill he went down and a little way down the hill I saw a good rub line left from the rut a couple weeks prior. I brought a climber over closer to the top of the hillside so I could see whatever came up the hill or went down. On my second morning hunting it, sure enough he appeared from behind some scrub brush and small pines. He was about 3 steps away from going down the hill and after he took 1 step he stopped and gave me a perfect broadside shot.
