We got this buck on camera for the first time a few weeks earlier. While he came in pretty regularly, it was only at night. I had hunted him a couple of times earlier in the week thinking the cold front would have him moving but never saw him. Finally on Saturday at 6:45 PM he stepped out onto the field at 267 yards. He lingered at the tree line for a couple of minutes and it became clear he was not going to come any closer, so I took a moment to collect myself and say a prayer then I took my shot. I got to track and recover the deer with my dad who is the one who introduced me to deer hunting all those years ago. That was a pretty great experience on its own. Then we took the deer back to camp and celebrated with the best hunting club members a guy could ask for. It was a night I’ll never forget. Thank you Lord for allowing me to see another fall and the ability to chase an old deer like this. I am certainly one blessed deer hunter.
