Hunt Story

We have been watching this deer on camera for a while and knew it was just going to be a matter of time before he slipped up. We got in the stand on opening day with high hopes of killing him and feeling the pressure of killing him in the morning because we would have to miss the afternoon hunt because his older brothers had homecoming and we would be doing pictures and getting ready and all of those type things. So a few minutes before 7:45 I had a feeling that the deer would start moving soon so I told Cade to go ahead and put his ear muffs on, so he did and shortly after the buck walked up to the edge of the plot. He was looking right at us so I told Cade to wait until he put his head down before he got his gun up. The buck finally calmed down and came out to feed and when he did Cade got on him and I picked up my binoculars to check and make sure it was the right buck. When we confirmed, we let him come on into the feeder and get broadside. After a bad case of buck fever and a missed opportunity, Cade made a perfect 200-yard shot and the buck was recovered about 75 yards out of the food plot.
