Hunt Story
I’ve been hunting this buck for the past two years, passing other bucks hoping I would get a chance. Our rut in Charlton County peaks around October but that has never meant anything. I’ve been getting him on camera in the daylight the past couple of days which is odd this time of the year down here. I was sitting in the stand and all of a sudden I see a doe trotting around with her trail up looking like she was getting chased. All of a sudden I hear another deer crashing through the brush and I look to my left and there is he coming right towards me around 40 yards looking for the doe. I hurry up and move my gun over to the left to quickly get a shot and he runs close towards me and stops and the rest is history. For a buck to be chasing a doe this time of the year in Charlton County is rare but we have seen it before. It just goes to show you never know until you go!
