Hunt Story
I had been watching this guy since last year on my property. I watched him and another buck as they grew together in velvet. I took the other buck the second day of bow season. I had several close calls and even saw him as I was walking out of the stand a couple times during rut. It was almost like he had me figured out better than I had him figured out. Shortly after rut the bucks started running together again and he started running with a button buck and a half rack buck. I had a close call again on Jan. 3. They were all three coming to my food plot right before dark, but something spooked them and they took off. I decided to hunt the next evening. I started having deer come in at 5 PM, and shortly after the button buck shows up. I saw the rack I have been waiting to see walk toward me all season. He took his sweet time, but finally came into bow range. He was facing me but acting very skittish, so I decided it was now or never. I took my shot and saw the lighted nock disappear, then suddenly reappear and him take off running. I get down to make sure I made the shot, evidence everywhere. I waited about 45 minutes and my buddy came with his dog and we went tracking. The buck ran for at least 350 yards, we finally get our hands on him.
