A couple of fishermen off the coast of San Diego, Calf. recently did their part to continue the life of a great white shark. Captured on video, they were able to remove some fishing-net lines that had become tangled around the shark, according to a news story on Fox6.
Sean Bailey was fishing with his dad when they spotted the shark swimming in circles around their boat.
From the story on Fox6, Sean said, “Dad, look at him!” Bailey screamed as their boat inched closer to the animal in distress. “He’s got a bunch of fishing line stuck to him,” Bailey added.
In a separate video on YouTube, Bailey shows the massive pile of fishing wires and line that were pulled from the shark.
“I think the shark’s going to be alright,” he said.
Meanwhile, on the Georgia coast, it’s not uncommon to hear shrimpers complaining about sharks tearing up their nets, and repairs often have to be made on a daily basis. These working boats attract sharks by the hundreds as they drag the beaches and sounds in search of shrimp. Shark fishermen often target the backs of shrimps boats to catch sharks.
