Craig James Named GON Field Editor
GON Staff | March 31, 2025

GON’s new Field Editor, Craig James
Craig James has been named as a new Field Editor for GON.
If that name rings a bell, it’s for good reason, as Craig has been a freelance contributor to the magazine for nearly 10 years now, primarily covering stories in the southern portion of the state during that time.
Growing up along the banks of the Satilla River, Craig found a love for blackwater river fishing at an early age, and many of his GON works are centered around the subject. Craig resides in Waycross with his wife, Brandy, and their three children. Brandy is also an avid outdoorsman, and if you’ve been to the GON Outdoor Blast any of the past several years, you likely remember her smiling face from the GON Booth.
The Field Editor position is one that Craig believes will help to take the magazine, website and GON social channels in a new direction while still remaining true to what GON has always been.
“I’m proud to say we’re still the same GON that Steve Burch built from the ground up all those years ago. We bring real news to the good people of the GON community, and that’s something I’m really proud to be a part of,” said Craig.
As he transitions into the new role, you can expect to see plenty more content from Craig as he brings more GON action from the outdoors directly to your living room.
“We really want to make the magazine come to life, and we have some exciting things planned to do just that. I’m not going to let the cat completely out of the bag, but you can definitely expect more video content, weekly fishing reports, and a whole bunch of other exciting stuff that’s going to make GON even better,” said Craig.
