Truck-Buck 34!

The best big-buck contest ever is back for Georgia deer hunters in 2022.

GON Staff | July 29, 2022

Can you believe GON has already given away 33 pickup trucks to Georgia deer hunters? After this deer season it will be 34, thanks to sponsor John Megel Chevy.

The Truck-Buck contest is back for the 34th year! Hard to believe.

However, just because this is the 34th year of Truck-Buck, hunters should not take this amazing contest for granted. Instead, please take a few minutes to thank the Truck-Buck sponsors. And when you do business, do so with the folks who support us and Georgia hunting. Without these sponsors, there won’t be a Truck-Buck contest.

Enter Your Buck

And deer hunters should not miss out on this awesome big-buck contest. Simply be a paid GON magazine subscriber, kill a buck, take photos, and then enter at www.gon.com.

For the five weeks of bow season, the weekly winners will receive the new Mathews V3X bows.

In addition to longtime sponsors who have been with us for decades, some great companies joined the party last season to support deer hunting in Georgia, and they are back again for the 2022-2023 deer season. Courtesy of Savage Arms, we will give away 11 deer rifles in this year’s contest.

CVA has again partnered with GON this year as its blackpowder week sponsor. The weekly winner will be receiving an Accura LR-X break-action muzzleloader from the X-Treme Rifles series.

And thanks to Ranew’s Outdoor Equipment, the second-best shot in the Shoot-Out will again earn a Firminator G-3 food plot implement. Plus, Rugged Road Outdoors is throwing in their soft-sided coolers again to our wildcard and Youth Big-Buck Contest prize packages.

The second-best shot in the Shoot-Out next year wins a Firminator G-3 from Ranew’s Outdoor Equipment (ROE).

And of course, special thanks to John Megel Chevrolet. Because of them, the best shot in next summer’s Truck-Buck Shoot-Out will once again drive home in a new pickup truck.

In addition to qualifying for that grand-prize Shoot-Out, the best-scoring buck each week of deer season earns a super weekly prize package—a bow, rifle or muzzleloader, plus an HSS safety harness and a prize package of products from 4S Advanced Wildlife Solutions. And along with Rugged Road Outdoors and Agri Supply, 4S and HSS also sponsor our wildcard categories. The wildcards are for the highest-scoring buck by a youth, lady or public-land hunter who doesn’t win a week. There is also a Runner-Up Wildcard for the highest-scoring buck that doesn’t win a week (the best second-place buck of any week). The four wildcard winners get a $250 gift card from Agri Supply, a Rugged Road cooler, 4S products, and an HSS safety harness.

$1K HSS Bonus
Wear your Hunter Safety System (HSS) harness when you take your Truck-Buck entry photos. If you win the Truck-Buck Shoot-Out, HSS will add a $1,000 bonus to your prize package. Plus, 17 weekly winners and 4 wildcards receive HSS harnesses.

Entering the GON Truck-Buck contest is simple. First, be a GON member, which means you have a paid annual or two-year subscription to the magazine (the new monthly $2.99 subscription is not eligible for Truck-Buck). When you kill a buck, take digital photos before you cape the buck. Then go to www.GON.com and fill out the online entry form and upload your pictures. The online entry process is simple, but if the Internet isn’t your thing, there will be an entry form in next month’s magazine that can be mailed the old-fashioned way. The complete official rules for the contest will also appear in the September issue.

Rule No. 1: you can’t kill a buck, then subscribe, and try to enter. Also, if you are 23 and living with your parents, you need to buy your own subscription. Only dependent kids (claimed as dependent on parents’ taxes) can enter on a subscription. Grandparents, please buy a gift subscription for the grandkids! The kids even have their own contest. See below for info on our Youth Big-Buck Contest, where the winner of the Youth Big-Buck Contest Shoot-Out gets a $3,000 shopping spree at Adventure Outdoors, plus a weekend hunt with Woods-N-Water.
