It’s tough to make the Shoot-Out. So what are the odds of making the Shoot-Out two years in a row and getting in Week 9 with a deer that netted 142? Keep in mind that this year’s Week 8 second-place buck scored 158 inches and didn’t win the week. Things just have to line up for a hunter.

Hey, Philip Worley will take it, and we’re thrilled to have Philip making back-to-back trips to the Shoot-Out.

Week 9: It’s back-to-back Shoot-Outs for Philip Worley, of Cordele. Philip’s Wilcox County 10-pointer netted 142.

“The hunt for this deer truly began on a Friday evening,” Philip said about his Wilcox County 10-pointer. “The cameras have been slow all year. No shooters all year.

“I’m at the fair with my little girl, and my Moultrie mobile app goes off. I check it, and here this deer is in shooting hours. Saturday, I decide to check a regular camera that is nearby because it usually has the most activity. And sure enough, here this deer is. He has been in there all week. And it is a deer I have been after for three years. The last pictures I had of this deer were 360 days ago in this exact spot.”

Philip’s spot was a food plot planted with oats and radishes near an ag field.

“Sunday morning, I watched several does and little bucks come in and out of the plot all morning. At 8:15 this deer appeared like a ghost at the bottom of the plot 180 yards out. I shot him with my Savage Stealth .308 using Hornady Superformance, and he ran 75 yards and fell right there. Unbelievable day…”

Philip will be shooting in the finals to win a new Silverado pickup truck from long time Truck-Buck sponsor John Megel Chevrolet. He has a $1,140 Browning deer rifle and a prize package which includes Antler Addict Mineral and 4S Draw from 4S Advanced Wildlife Solutions, a safety harness from Hunter Safety System and Shoot-Out shirts from Realtree.
